okay last assignment upload for the year!

this was the final project for my illustration class; we had to redesign a dvd cover and i chose one of my favorite movies, everything is illuminated. we had to do the spines and the back cover too but i'm just posting the front.

by the way i just read the book this movie was based on and it was not good.

pen and prismacolors on nice fancy paper, colored in photoshop.

The book sucked? Really? I loved the movie, loved it real hard, still do. I need to buy it. Love your interpretation of not only the characters, but the mood of the movie. I like how you used yellow in a somber way, not in the SUNSHINE daisy yellow they used on the real cover.

yeah i love the movie a lot too, i was super disappointed by the book. like half of it is exactly alex's dialogue from the movie in that charmingly horrbile english he speaks, but interspersed with that story line are chapters about 1700's trachimbrod, and the story is really boring and too stylistically written to follow easily, and it just ruins the rest of it.

I haven't yet seen the movie or read the book but I really want to do both.
It's been said, but I really like the yellow tone that you used.
My favourite part is their faces though- so full of character! Nice shading on the dog as well.

LOVE THIS PICTURE.
the movie of course was fantastic and the soundtrack is superb. i also wasn't extremely pleased with the book. the Trachimbrod story was just plain confusing sometimes. It kept switching back and forth. regardless like i said, love this picture.
